Obama Campaign

I think it was a great idea to reach out to people via internet. It has become such a successful networking tool for many political campaigns, schools and overall businesses. It is also a very convenient tool if you don't have the time to personally get your information out there. I thought it was really clever of Obama to recruit Chris Hughes the co-founder of Facebook because it targeted a younger audience which can only expand the demographics of the campaign. OBAMA 2009!!!

A Revolution...

I agree that the internet can definitely be a scary place especially if you have teenagers. I am not a mother but I can only imagine the fears that one would have nowadays. You hear about the sex offenders mainly but there is so much more out there. I think the cyber-bullying story was really upsetting. I believe the young boy's name was Ryan Halligan and my heart goes out to his family; I cant imagine how his parents felt when reading the conversation that there son had the night before he died. It is so sad to know how much this affects people and how awful and cruel people can be. I don't know whats worse parents monitoring there kids online or just trusting them to do the right thing. Teenagers evidently know more about computers and the internet than there parents do so maybe over-monitoring can be frustrating and simply drive their kid's away. It is also frightning to know that teenagers are living seperate lives on the internet which only they know about. There are obvious issues there that need to be helped but if they don't tell anyone who knows what will become of them. I also found it so interesting that schools have to not only teach these kids but entertain them. With all this technology it is not difficult to find a student fidgeting in there chair or texting away. I think there are some positive factors to the internet, however it can be very dangerous and addicting. I sound like a paranoid parent, god only know's how I'll be when I have a kid. Btw I'm only 21.
